Belarus is rich in culture and history, rather inexpensive and
not yet over-run by tourists. However, because English is not common and information is not widely available, traveling to
Belarus can be challenging for the first-time visitor.
Minsk , the capital of Belarus, has an exciting history. It has
stood for over 900 years, however most of Minsk has been built since World War II. The center of the city is where most of
the action is.
Minsk is the 12th largest city in Europe, but you won't find it chaotic and hectic. Buildings, streets
and Minsk hotels are in good condition, metro stations are modern, and there are some nice shops
for the souvenir hunters.
The city is much safer than one would imagine. Many people hear bad things about Minsk, but the
streets are quite safe. You won't be disturbed by homeless people and poverty, or encounter beggars. The crime rate in Minsk
is lower than in most cities of a comparable size. So don't be afraid to get out and meet the friendly people.
